TuringQ Planning to IPO and In Race to Become China’s First Public Quantum Firm
Shanghai-based photonic quantum firm TuringQ has officially initiated pre-IPO tutoring with the Shanghai branch of the China Securities Regulatory Commission. This move positions the company as a frontrunner in the race to become China’s first publicly listed quantum computing enterprise. Advised by Guotai Haitong Securities, this step highlights a broader shift in the Chinese hard-tech sector, as companies transition from early-stage venture capital toward public market commercialization.
Founded in February 2021, TuringQ distinguishes itself by focusing on photonic quantum architectures, which offer advantages such as room-temperature operation, high scalability, and seamless compatibility with existing optical communications infrastructure. The company reached a major milestone in June 2025 when its pilot facility in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, began large-scale manufacturing of thin-film lithium niobate photonic chips. This facility allows for the integration of thousands of optical components on a single chip, moving from experimental prototypes to industrial production.
TuringQ’s financial growth has been rapid, having secured nearly 1 billion yuan ($148 million USD) in 2026 alone, with a Series C funding round in April pushing its valuation past 7 billion yuan ($1.04 billion USD). The capital is earmarked for advancing practical photonic quantum hardware, expanding its algorithm ecosystem, and growing quantum-powered intelligent computing infrastructure. The push for a public listing follows the Shanghai Stock Exchange’s recent inclusion of quantum technology as a strategic emerging industry, providing a clearer regulatory path for companies like TuringQ, Origin Quantum, and Ciqtek to enter the public markets.
