Pasqal Advances Full-Stack HPC-QC Integration Across Multi-Vendor Supercomputing Ecosystems

Pasqal, a developer of neutral-atom quantum hardware, has released a comprehensive architectural roadmap for the seamless integration of its quantum processing units (QPUs) into high-performance computing (HPC) and supercomputing data centers. Moving beyond lab-based demonstrations, the company is deploying its systems within major European research facilities, including France's CEA and Germany's Forschungszentrum Jülich, as well as Italy's CINECA consortium. To address the unique operational demands of quantum hardware, Pasqal has introduced an open-source orchestration layer called Warden, which bridges the gap between traditional HPC schedulers like Slurm and the physical execution cycles required by neutral-atom QPUs.

A critical component of this initiative is the Quantum Resource Management Interface (QRMI), a vendor-neutral specification initially conceptualized by IBM and co-developed by Pasqal, the STFC Hartree Centre, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. By utilizing QRMI, system administrators can manage neutral-atom QPUs as standard schedulable assets, similar to GPUs or classical processors. Pasqal is also collaborating with NVIDIA on hardware-level integration, leveraging NVQLink for low-latency interconnects between GPU accelerators and QPU control electronics to enable real-time error mitigation and hybrid algorithmic pipelines.
