Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Signals Hybrid Quantum Push with Eight-Partner Infrastructure Initiative

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has officially announced a significant expansion of its quantum computing strategy during the HPE Discover Las Vegas 2026 event. The company is forging strategic collaborations with eight leading entities across the quantum ecosystem, including hardware developers, control system providers, and error correction specialists. This initiative aims to establish the HPE Cray supercomputing platform as a central hub for hybrid classical-quantum computing, facilitating integration across various quantum modalities.

The partnership encompasses a broad technological scope: hardware providers include Intel (silicon spin), IQM and Rigetti Computing (superconducting), Quantinuum (trapped ion), and QuEra Computing (neutral atom). Additionally, HPE is collaborating with Qblox and Quantum Machines for control infrastructure and Riverlane for quantum error correction. By creating this vendor-agnostic testbed, HPE intends to leverage its core supercomputing strengths to address the complexities of co-design, software interoperability, and performance benchmarking for data center managers.

This initiative underscores HPE's focus on bridging the gap between current quantum experiments and future fault-tolerant systems. By integrating these diverse technologies, HPE seeks to provide an enterprise-grade channel that allows startups to engineer their systems for rigorous data center requirements, moving toward standardized, commercialized hybrid workflows that combine CPUs, GPUs, and QPUs.
